BRING IT: The nationwide real estate Blog Brawl is ON!

That’s right boys and girls — it’s time for the National Real Estate Blog Brawl, 2009 edition, right here at VARbuzz. It’s the single-elimination competition of real estate blogs. And this year, it’s serious.
For those of you who missed last year’s Brawl, here’s how it works.
Nominate your favorite real estate blog. Any blog written by a Realtor (yes, we’ll be checking), as long as it’s focused on real estate. Nominations close at 8:59 a.m. EDT on Monday, March 16, 2009.
The more nominations, the better. We’ll take the 31 blogs with the highest number of nominations and begin the Brawl. (Ties will be decided by which of the tied blogs was nominated first.) Why only 31 blogs? Well, to the victor go the spoils: Heather Elias of LoCoMusings.com wrapped up the overall number one seed by winning the Virginia Blog Brawl last year. (Call it the VAR home-court advantage.)
Then we rumble! You’ll start by casting 16 votes — choosing between blog pairings that we put up here. So each pairing has one winner that moves to the next round.
It keeps going. From 32 to 16 to 8 to 4 to 2 to the winner. Sound familiar? There’s a reason we’re doing it in March!
Let’s talk prizes!
First place:
- Free registration to Inman’s Real Estate Connect San Francisco 2009 including Bloggers Connect
- $1000 travel allowance
Second place:
- Free registration to Inman’s Real Estate Connect San Francisco 2009 including Bloggers Connect
By the way: Thanks to the good folks at Inman News for ponying up the registrations as bounty in support of the Blog Brawl. And by the way, they’ll be offering up a pretty hefty discount to Real Estate Connect San Francisco 2009 just for VAR members. Stay tuned for details.
Third and fourth place:
Now do it. Use the form at the end of this post to register your blog — or to nominate someone else’s (or, if you care to hop from IP address to IP address, several someone elses’).
Remember: Nominations close at 8:59 a.m. EDT on Monday, March 16, 2009.
There are rules, and we’ll spell them out in detail in a later post. But we’ll say this up front: VARbuzz may exclude blogs from the brawl at its sole discretion for any reason whatsoever. Engaging in conduct that a reasonable person would consider ‘out of bounds,’ ‘not kosher,’ ‘not cricket,’ or just plain cheating will probably get you kicked out.
One thing that definitely is permitted: using the Brawl as a reason to contact your clients and have them vote for you. Ditto for calling your mother.
So get to it. Nominate all of your favorite real estate blog(s) as many times as you want from as many IP addresses as you can by 8:59 a.m. EDT on Monday, March 16 2009; just enter the URL into the form below.

13|Mar|2009 10As a Bay Area native (now in the Pac NW) who misses it terribly, Luba’s blog provides great insight to the SF Real Estate market. As an appraiser, I find her blogs credible and eye-opening for first timers as well as investors. Luba, you are a rockstar!

13|Mar|2009 14Hi Luba!
Even though I’m now in the Pacific Northwest, I still read your blog because your insights, advice, and perspectives are equally applicable here in the Portland/Vancouver/Olympia area, and are (no surprise to me at all here) very very helpful as I hunt for a home to purchase :)
Words do not suffice to express not only how helpful you were (and are!) during my own transition from San Francisco to the PNW, but also how helpful you continue to be via your blog – one big Thank You from this old Wolf!

15|Mar|2009 24My choice, thefrontsteps.com is the best blog because there is so much great information about San Fransisco by an innovative in the know young San Fransisco Agent who also produces SFnewsletter.com and is making itin a very competitive environment and the blog adds levity to many a boring or trying week. The “Tour de San Fransico” archive is so very useful for new comers to the area.
