VAR’s highest honor goes to Martinsville Realtor

Judith Childress of Childress & Associates in Martinsville, VA has received the 2009 "Realtor of the Year" award, during the recent annual Convention of the Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR) in Hot Springs, VA.
Realtor of the Year recognizes faithfulness to principles of organized real estate, laws and the Realtor Code of Ethics; efforts to encourage good real estate practice and to inform the public about the real estate profession; and participation in civic activities and local, state and national Realtor organizations. Selection is based on the recipient’s achievements in the real estate industry, activity in community and civic affairs, involvement with Realtor Association work, and business and educational experience.
A member of the Martinsville, Henry & Patrick Counties Association of Realtors (MHPCAR), Childress holds both the CRB (Certified Residential Broker) and GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) designations. She is a member of the Virginia Real Estate Board, and chairs the VREB education committee. An active Realtor association volunteer, Childress has served on the Virginia Managers Council, Property Managers Advisory Council and became a VAR Life Member in 2006. She has been involved in advocacy efforts for the state and national Realtor associations, and is a federal key contact for state delegates, senators and national congressmen.
Currently Childress is a member of the MHPCAR board of directors, and her accolades include the MHPCAR Realtor of The Year and the 2006 Virginia Property Manager of the Year. At the local level, she is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Drug Task Force, member of the Jaycettes, Habitat for Humanity and the Citizens against Family Violence.
