Commonwealth Contest: September/October

All right, ladies and gents, let’s be about it. There’s a Creative Vado HD camcorder looking for a home.

If you followed the instructions on page 34 of the September/October Commonwealth, you ended up with five groups of letters. Here’s what you do.

  1. Discard the middle group. (Sorry, three-letter language-services company!)
  2. Discard the very first letter and very last letter.
  3. No one likes to fail. Discard any Fs.
  4. You know what? Discard any Ds, too. We’re better than that.

Now for the tough part:

When the VAR marketing staff have lunch at Casa Grande (“the big house”), Amanda Rainsford always asks for something. The remaining letters anagram into what it is; it’s a single word. (That is, you need to rearrange them. So if you had DOSA the answer would be SODA.)

E-mail me with what it is by 11:59 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14. I’ll take all the correct answers and draw a winner of the Vado.

Bonus: I’ll then draw a second winner who will receive a cool PowerLine Powercup inverter — plug it into your car’s cigarette lighter and get two 120-volt outlets for your laptop, phone charger, or whatever!
