NAR: No point to 2013 officers

APRIL 1 (Chicago) – The National Association of REALTORS said it won’t bother holding elections for 2013 officers, as the world as we know it will end in late 2012.

“We’re all familiar with the Mayan prophecy that the world will end in December 2012,” said NAR spokesperson April McDeem. And while she acknowledged that there were “some nay-sayers” who point out that the Mayans said no such thing, “We feel that holding elections for posts that will be buried under tons of rubble wastes energy that could be better used fighting for REALTOR issues such as preserving the mortgage interest deduction.”

NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said he expects the upcoming end of the world to have a positive impact on property values, “due to the obvious shortage of viable housing.”

Robert April, current NAR President-Elect, will change his title to “President Finalé.”

The Board of Directors also voted to change the preamble to the REALTOR Code of Ethics to read “Under the land is all.”
