    But the official language of this state and country is still English.

  2. Actually, the United States does not have an official language. (Although yes, it is true for Virginia — it’s one of 26 states that has an official language.)

    I stand corrected, although with a majority of states having that requirement, that is a pretty good indicator that English is the “common” language of the country.
