U.S. Q3 foreclosures down 34%: RealtyTrac

According to the foreclosure number-crunchers at RealtyTrac, in the third quarter of 2001 foreclosure “filings” (that’s default notices, auctions, repossessions) were down 34 percent from Q3 2010, and virtually unchanged from the previous quarter.

Foreclosure filings in September alone were down 38 percent from September 2010 — and get this: That’s the 12th straight month with decreasing year-over-year foreclosure activity.

Even more good news: Nationwide, one of every 605 homes had a foreclosure filing in September. In Virginia, though, only one out of every 937 homes was.
