Richmond considers allowing backyard chickens

Cluck.Richmond’s Food Policy Task Force is going to recommend that the city lift its effective ban on backyard chickens so residents could raise at least some of their own food.

Currently, the law requires anyone wanting a chicken coop to have at least 50,000 square feet of property, although chickens require much less space.

Richmonders are, however, allowed to keep cows (as long as they don’t wear a bell).(Seriously.)
