The best day to list a home? Friday, maybe

The Wall Street Journal is quoting a Redfin report: Homes listed on Fridays, it says, “sold for 99.1% of the seller’s original asking price, the highest percentage of any day of the week.”
Homes listed on Fridays also spent the least number of days on the market (81 days), and homes listed on Tuesdays earned the most home tours (2.41 home-tour requests), on average, according to an analysis by real-estate brokerage Redfin.
So Friday for the best price, Tuesday for the most showings. Oh, and homes listed on Tuesdays got more page views for their online listings than those listed other days.
There must be a reason for all these things — people shop on weekends or it rains less on Wednesdays or Mercury is in retrograde. Something.
Maybe. Maybe not.
See, back in 2011, Redfin had slightly different data. Then it found that homes listed on Sunday (not Tuesday) got more online views, and those listed Friday (not Tuesday) got more tours.
To get the closest to the list price back then, either Thursday or Friday was your best bet.
But there is one thing in common: Friday. At least in 2011 and 2012, homes listed then seemed to have the best chance of selling quickly and at a better price.
