Key races: Jackson Miller, David Yancey

This Election Day, there are a number of key races for the Virginia House of Delegates that VAR is following closely — these are contests that could have a profound effect on real estate in Virginia.

Here’s a summary of two of them; we’ll be covering more as Election Day approaches.

House District 50 (Prince William/Manassas): Vote Jackson Miller

Delegate Jackson Miller is the Realtor-endorsed candidate for the 50th House district. A working broker, Delegate Miller is owner of Crossroads Realtors in Manassas, and he was the patron of two of VAR’s bills during the 2013 General Assembly Session.

He has shown himself to be a huge supporter of Realtors and property owners, and a loyal friend to the local and state associations.

House District 94 (Peninsula): Vote David Yancey

Delegate David Yancey is the Realtor-endorsed candidate for the 94th House district.  He was the patron of VAR’s important Realtor liability legislation during the 2012 and 2013 General Assembly session. Thanks to Delegate Yancey’s support, this legislation became law on July 1.

Delegate Yancey has been involved in his family’s real estate and investment business since 2001, and in 2003 started his own development and property management business. He holds Virginia professional licenses in real estate, contracting, and commercial fishing.

One Response to Key races: Jackson Miller, David Yancey

  1. Mark Brandon says:

You guys should get out of politics. Your bias has driven away, Realtors and customers. Now the Tea Party, which you, with your miss guided priorities helped create is taking us all into the tank. Moderate R’s are going to lose to moderate Dem’s. Many of your public policy positions have for decades been bad for Virginia, bad for families, bad for realtors. ( those are people who sell houses to People / families). Pro suburban development is not always pro realtor. You never got that. There are ‘trends’ developing that you miss by a mile. Trends that you miss will hurt your rank and file.. Blinded by your own tired “R” political jargon, you trudge down the same tired path. My license is expiring soon. It will be a relief not to be forced to give money to ‘our’ PAC. I will in my retirement work hard to see that realtors in my region not give money to this group. A popular and successful woman realtor in my office said regarding VAR, ” a bubba in a suit is still a bubba”. We can do better than this, as realtors. Bubbas and rubes with bulldozers is not the future. I will today send a donation to the D’s running in the 50th and 94th districts. Thanks for the heads up.
