This Election Day, there are a number of key races for the Virginia House of Delegates that VAR is following closely — these are contests that could have a profound effect on real estate in Virginia.
Here’s a summary of two of them; we’ll be covering more as Election Day approaches.
House District 86 (Northern Virginia): Vote Tom Rust
As a successful businessman and former Mayor of Herndon, Tom Rust has the background and experience to get things done for us. First elected to the House of Delegates in 2001, Tom is recognized as one of the most effective legislators in the Virginia General Assembly, consistently gaining high marks from the nonpartisan Virginia Foundation for Research and Economic Education (Virginia FREE). Tom serves on four committees in the General Assembly including the Commerce and Labor, Education, Transportation, and Science and Technology.
Through his tenure in the House of Delegates, Tom has championed legislation to create new jobs and expand economic opportunity, improve public and higher education, and invest in transportation. Tom has worked hard to make Virginia a national leader in job creation and one of the best states in America to do business. Recently, the Speaker of the House announced his intention to appoint Rust as Chair of the Transportation Committee, a very important position for Virginia and Delegate Rust’s Northern Virginia constituents.
House District 14 (Danville): Vote Danny Marshall
Delegate Danny Marshall is the REALTOR®-endorsed candidate for the 14th House District. Delegate Marshall is the Vice-Chair of the Virginia Housing Commission, which serves as the General Assembly’s primary policy arm in property matters. REALTORS® are delighted to support Delegate Marshall’s re-election this year.
