Firm affiliation returns to DPOR’s License Lookup page

The Virginia Association of REALTORS® is pleased to announce that the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) has added a licensee’s firm affiliation back to its License Lookup website this week.

Previously, VAR had worked with DPOR to speed up the process by which REALTORS® could have their licenses transferred when going to work for a new broker.

One consequence of this was that DPOR had to remove the “Firm” field from its License Lookup website, because the agency was concerned that the information in that field may not be up to date during the transfer.

Because REALTORS® and REALTOR® associations rely on the License Lookup site — including the “Firm” field — VAR asked DPOR if it would be possible to restore that information to the site.

We were happy to learn that DPOR was in fact able to return licensees’ firm information to License Lookup under the “Related Licenses” section and with a disclaimer explaining that the information may be inaccurate during license transfers.

This is excellent news for our members and associations, and we’d like to thank DPOR and the Virginia Real Estate Board for their responsiveness to our members’ concerns.
