On the public search in No. VA, FranklyMLS is on the new edge and a sign of things that better come to all MLS's (http://www.bloodhoundrealty.com/BloodhoundBlog/?p=3054).

> Frank - could you please elaborate:

Jim (Rake) -- I think Frank is referring to www.franklymls.com, a "wiki mls" where users can add content (photos, comments) to listings of properties for sale.

Good post, Jim. My VARBuzz e-mail digest does not tell me who the author of the post is, but it took me about 30 seconds to recognize your style. Good writing as always.

It appears more and more consumers are connecting/finding their Realtors on the internet, especially folks coming from out of town. I'm sure this trend will only continue to grow.

I don't think a background check on Realtors would ever "validate their ability to keep safe said private information." My wife and I ran a background check on a nanny once, it's a fairly painless process that doesn't really reveal much about a person's character. What's stopping any Realtor today from offering a "background check" report of themselves to their clients? If I were a consumer interviewing Realtors and one of them offered me their "background check" report I'd probably not take that the right way. (may be that's just me)

I love it that most of my clients are quite techie--after all that's how most of them found me. When somebody has a gmail account I know we're going to get along very well....

Frank - could you please elaborate:
"I heard consumers finally have a choice to search like Realtors up in the Northern Virginia area. Have you heard of this?"

Jim - a couple of very good points...First, I think anybody that knows Google, loves Googles capabilities, and I don't just mean the stockholders!
Secondly - you're spot on!...."Good Realtors do more than just search for homes - interpretation, guidance, advice, negotiation - client representation - is far more specialized than search."

Soon, if they don't, they'll go the way of the dinosaur.

Hey Jim,
Regarding: "I want the consumer’s search to be as powerful as mine"

I heard consumers finally have a choice to search like Realtors up in the Northern Virginia area. Have you heard of this?

;-)
